Mom

Like my dad my mom is also a super m0m. She got married to my dad at the age of 13, she delivered her first child at the age of 17 and I am her second issue and first daughter at the age of 20. At the age of 32 she was the mother of 6 children. Really I wonder how she brought us all up.
She had also experienced financial crisis since the entire family depends on only one income of my father. My mom used to tell that her dad mom and brother used to extend their helping hand at times. Three times my father was posted to outstations and my parents had to tackle two establishments. My mother brilliantly overcome all the financial crisis. She was able to manage with what she had.

She had encouraged me while learning typewriting and shorthand. Since I got job at the age of 19 after I had healed from serious chicken pox and I was too weak but being a steno typist my work was too heavy and due to that fact she had showered a lot of love and affection towards me and taken care of me well.

My parents had not enjoyed their personal life. Even for the near relatives marriage my father alone will represent for the entire family due to financial strategy. Even then my mom brought us up all very well and they have given us all the basic education and also married life. Now all her children are living well.

She also taught me that whatever be ones behaviour habits whether they are good or bad she always used to advise to take good alone from that person. Though I am not following it by 100% I think I am following it at least by 90%. Hence my mom is not only a mother, she is a teacher, she is a well wisher and beyond all she is my god.

Further I wish to say here about her that she was very kind towards her children. She was also very kind to her daughter in law. She is not like other mother-in-laws. She took care of her daughter in law more that she took care of her own children. Even now at the age of 76 she is thinking only of the well being of her children.

God cannot come to each and every one so he sends a mother to everybody.

So I not only love my mom but also worship her equal to god.

Let her live long with hale and health.

About Kith and Kin

I was born among six children to my parents. Though the family is big and my mom and dad managed to run the family with single earning. Really both of them are very great. In this article I intend to speak about all my kith and kin. Writing on this issue I think it is very enjoyable for me. I don't know what the readers may feel. So I start travel from my Dad.

MY DAD

My dad was working as a Sanitary Inspector. He was very handsome in his Uniform dress. He was very kind to his subordinates. But for his short temperament he was very good at home. But we could not move with him that much friendly because of his strictness. Whatever be our needs we will only ask to my mother and get through her. Only after joining the work with Government I started studying my Pre-university Course and B.com degree course through correspondence course. I used to dispatch the answer papers for the tests only through my dad. I used to write all the exams only by the pen given by my father. As far as I am concerned whatever I do with the consent of My father that will work out successfully.

My father was very affectionate towards me. After my marriage sometimes he used to come in the morning with tiffin dosai. My mom will not send dosai for me only. She will send it for the entire family. Whenever my dad come to my home we will be taking only kothsu, rasam and rice. He felt bad about that.

My father was not only affectionate towards us. Unlike other father-in-laws he is very different. He used to go to railway station daily to accompany my sister-in-law (Vaini) since my brother either he will be out of station or he may come late. He used to take the children Sowmya and Raghav to school at times when my sisters are otherwise engaged. He used to wash the uniform dress of the children. Put wrapper to the School books and notes. Really my Vaini was lucky to have such a father-in-law.

He is such a great man. That he neither felt very happy at the joyful events nor felt very bad at the time of troubles. He used to take both good and bad alike.

After a return from tour with his wife and son's family, on one very hot day due to suffocation and due to old age he became ill and passed away. By that time my son Raghav, my sister Uma were present. I too visited my dad before his last breath. May his Soul rest in peace

JAMBAVAN

JAMBAVAN

Here by using the term Jambavan, I mean those who enlighten me my strength.

MY INSTITUTE MASTER MR. SUBRAMANIAN:

I learnt Typewriting and Shorthand in an Institute at Vedachalam Nagar at Chengalpattu run by one Mr Sadasivam. I was interested in learning Shorthand than that of Typewriting because first thing I did not get seat in the Typewriting Class immediately since all the typewriters were engaged by various students and the master asked me to join shorthand class first and he will arrange to give timings for typewriting. Secondly I could not type the passages that are printed and pasted on a pad due to short of vision. Only after I faced failure in Typewriting Lower Exam I informed my parents about my vision fault and wore the glass. Only after I got my lens I showed interest in typewriting. First I got through only in Shorthand lower and then only I passed the typewriting Exam.

In Institute it is the usual practice that after dictating a passage to all the students the master will ask us to read the passage one after another. The dictation passage will always be for 10 minutes at 80 words per minute. We were 10 students learning and he will ask us to read 1 minute passage. The other students will take more time for reading that passage. But I will read it quickly. After completion of one minute passage the master will say next. I was thinking that since I am not studying well I am given lesser time to read. But during my Lower exam in Shorthand, in the hall they did not arrange the seats for writing the exam readily. After giving dictation they made us to wait till the seats are arranged. Taking advantage of the situation my friends take my shorthand note and take note of the words omitted by them. Here I am proud to say that my strokes will be very legible and even a beginner can read that strokes.

One day while in class my master asked me whether I have registered my name in the Employment Exchange for which I told that I am not interested in going for job. He advised me that I am studying well and my talent should not be wasted and I should serve for the government asked me to go and register my name in the Employment Exchange. So the next day I went with my father and registered my name and within three months I got the job of steno typist in TWAD Board.

Hence he is my first WELL WISHER AND JAMBAVAN who enlightened me about my strength. Only from that day I was under the impression that I am in good in shorthand learning and tried to found out my own strokes for various phrases.

Memories Blossom-II

From the Age of 11 to 15

I was always a good Reader. I was having a sweet voice. Always I used to read the passages very clearly with its ups and downs, even a layman can understand what it means. This I came to know in my very later years.

While I was studying in III STd there was a lesson about our country. That lesson will start like this. 'namathu nadagiya India' This I will read like namathu nadaaagiya India" I will give stress on that "nadagiya" . I even now rember that my dad was telling to my mom see how she reads, and repeated the sentence as it is read by me. . Instead of commenting against my face they should have appreciated my accent and pronounciation. But I took it in the wrong sense and thought I am poor in reading. ( so in this way I developed inferiority complex). Why I am telling this old story in this place here comes the new story.

In sixth Standard there was a poem about a Dove. "I had a sweet dove ...." Now I could not recollect the poem. Recitation of this poem by me impressed my teacher whose name is Joyee and she is very fond of me and she was always affectionate towards me. Even after I went to the next class she sent a group of students with instructions to learn that poem from. Then only I came to know that I used to read the lessons with feel.

Next I wish to tell you another thing. My hair was very long and thick. I do not know how to comb my hair or how to tie etc. Whenever my mom was in monthly rest I used to go to a family friend's house nearby to tie my hair. One day I was angry with my mom and left for school without tieing the hair and went to that friends house to tie the hair. They thought thatI came to tie my hair as usual since my mom will be out of doors and when I told that due to anger I came they scolded me and advised me not to do like that thereafter.

In School I was very obedient, I will not usually play , and will always keep calm. These actions will be inspired by my teachers. WE students used to go to the huts which was at the backside of the school for drinking water during the interval.

While studying in VII Std there will be an interval between the 2nd and 3rd period. One day when the bell rang after the first period is over, I mistook it it is interval between and 2nd and 3rd period and I ran fastly to the hut where we used to go for drinking water in the pretext that I was the first to enter the house to drink water. Alals none was behind me. The people at hut also asked why me alone came what about others. And I ran fast and come to school by that time the teacher was ready there for taking the next class. I was very much afraid . But the teacher did not ask me anything and allowed me in class.

There was only Classes upto VIII Std in St Joseph's Branch school and we have to shift to some other school for next higher class. On the last day of VIII Standard my class Teacher Mr O Desigachari, I remember the name is correct, though advised the entire class to study well, proper behaviour etc. appreciated me , me alone for mygood character and behavious. I was very proud of myself.

I was admitted to Std IX in St Mary's School. In most of the classes teachers will have very high esteem on me. But I was not upto that mark. In IX Standard my miss wanted me to participate and Elocution competition. I did nt do that good. Due to lack of confidence in me I did not shine well. I was Mangu then. (What about now? u r asking . I know) In My IX Class in a function I have been made to participate in a dance. As I wore no jewel my teacher borrowed a chain from a girl of next class and gave me to wear. After the program was over it is noticed that I missed the chain somewhere. I did not know where I missed it. Even I dont know whether it is gold chain and covering chain. Poor girl . I dont know what happened to her at home. The next year that girl committed suicide. (not for this reason that is missing of chain .

While studying in XI standard I was admired by my Headmistress. (nun) and if I get lesser mark she will feel very bad. Occasionally I used to come home for lunch for which My Science Teacher Jayamma Teacher will scold me for wasting my time by going home for lunch. Since most of the teachers know my father well everybody will be watching over me, at the same time shower their affection on me. Though I wanted to get more marks than my brother I god only about 60% in my school final.
